BASCAN OF GAGAUZIA URGES PARLIAMENTARIANS FROM FORMER “SHOR” PARTY TO HINDER MOLDOVA’S ACCESSION TO THE EUROPEAN UNION

08 april, 2024

The Bascan of Gagauzia Evghenia Gutul urged deputies from the former “Shor” party, declared unconstitutional in June 2023, to hinder Moldova's accession to the European Union. According by “INFOTAG,” Gutul wrote on social media that during a meeting with deputies Marina Tauber, Reghina Apostolova, Denis Ulanov, Vadim Fotescu, and Petru Jardan, she discussed about the “need to unify and firmly say 'no' to entry into the EU.”

In Gutul's opinion, “it is necessary to unify in the face of new challenges so that the multinational people of Moldova thrive.”

Evghenia Gutul also complained that she is “subject to criminal prosecution by direct order of President Maia Sandu, who dislikes how Gagauzia actively builds good neighborly relations with Russia.”

The bascan also expressed concern about the “increasing voices advocating for Moldova's accession to Romania.”

“This will lead to catastrophic consequences for our multinational country. We must firmly say 'no' to Moldova's entry into the EU. I believe that we need to ensure that the entire leadership of the PAS party, which puts pressure on its opponents, is held accountable under the law. The government deliberately escalates the situation in Gagauzia, and the recent judicial reform, involving the liquidation of courts in the autonomy, is evidence of that,” stated Gutul.
