IGOR GROSU INFORMS IMF MISSION ON SUCCESSES IN PARLIAMENTARY AGENDA

30 april, 2024

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu met with the IMF mission led by Clara Mira, informing the mission “about the progress in the parliamentary agenda.”

According to INFOTAG, Grosu wrote on his facebook page following the meeting that “justice reform, the fight against criminal groups and the development of a strong economy remain priorities.”

“This requires strong institutions, with honest judges and prosecutors working in the interests of citizens. The Superior Council of Prosecutors and the Superior Council of Magistrates have begun to make progress. Not as quickly as we would like, but I hope that with honor and courage we will complete high-profile cases and cleanse the system of corruption,” the speaker said.
According to Grosu, the interlocutors also exchanged views on the role of the National Bank.

“Here we are in favor of active cooperation, especially in the context of negotiations on Moldova's accession to the European Union,” Grosu concluded.

As INFOTAG previously reported, an IMF mission led by Clara Mira is in Moldova from April 22 to May 2 in the context of the fifth review of Moldova's ECF/EFF program, financed by the IMF through the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and the Extended Credit Facility (EFF), and the first review of the program financed by the IMF through the Resilience and Long-Term Sustainability Financing Facility (RSF).

Following meetings with the authorities, the Mission will review recent economic developments and Moldova's progress in program implementation, update data, and assess the macroeconomic outlook.
