HEATING MEMORANDUM IS THIEVISH AND SHORT-LIVING DECISION – LDPM

The oppositional Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova regards the Memorandum, adopted last Tuesday night by the Chisinau Municipal Council [city legislature] to de-block the heating crisis in the capital city, “a short-living decision camouflaging thievish schemes of plundering the public property”.
SERGIU MOCANU ANNOUNCES STRUGGLE AGAINST VORONIN REGIME
Chisinau. Sergiu Mocanu, the leader of the Popular Action Movement and former Adviser-at-Large to President Vladimir Voronin, has announced he is not going to run for parliament in 2009, but will join the forthcoming parliamentary campaign and will take an active part in it.
RAVNOPRAVIYE GETS OFFICIALLY RE-REGISTERED
Chisinau. The Ravnopraviye (Equal Rights) Socio-Political Movement is the official name of the organization, after its re-registration with the Ministry of Justice, which claims to be a defender of Russian-speaker minorities in the Republic of Moldova.
LDPM WILL DEFEND ITS RIGHTS IN COURT
Chisinau. The oppositional Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova leadership has stated they will challenge in court the law enforcement’s actions against protesters in some parts of the country. Last weekend, the party organized meetings of protest against the Communist authorities’ strangling the freedom of expression and press freedom.

GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN TO FINANCE PROJECT TO PROTECT TRAFFICKING AND VIOLENCE VICTIMS

The United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Population Fund, the International Organization for Migration and the OSCE Mission to Moldova launched the project “Protection and Empowerment of Victims of Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence in Moldova” to work in 2008-2009. The US$3.45 million project is funded by the Government of Japan.
SDPM PROPOSES TO SET UP AGENCY FOR CONSUMER PROTECTION
Chisinau. The Social Democratic Party of Moldova proposes to set up an Agency for Consumer Protection. For this purpose the SDP Parliamentarians sent a legislative initiative to the Parliament.
INTEGRO ENSEMBLE WILL GIVE CHARITY CONCERT FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES
Chisinau. The Integro Ensemble, which is issuing its first disk, will give a charity concert on November 9. The financial resources, which will be collected, will be transferred to the “Îngeraşu” (Little Angel) Fund of Mothers of Children with Disabilities.
ANTEM INVITES MINORITIES TO COMMUNICATE IN OFFICIAL LANGUAGE
Chisinau. The National Association of European Trainers of Moldova (ANTEM) calls upon ethnic minorities residing in Moldova to intensively study the country’s state language. For this, the Association is offering a package of study aids for those who wish to deepen their linguistic background and communication habits.
