Chisinau. Chairman of the Democratic Forum of the Romanians of Moldova, Literatura şi Arta newspaper editor, writer Nicolae Dabija is standing for the Romanian Parliament as a candidate from the National Liberal Party of Romania, and says that if he is elected to the forum, he will be sparing no effort to protect the Romanians living outside Romania.

Chisinau. The National Center of the Roma People of Moldova and the Voice of the Roma People Coalition have demanded from Termocom Administrator Dionisie Antocel to apologize for his use of the racist terminology.

Chisinau. The “Alianţa Verde” [Green Alliance] Ecological Party will support the Chairman of the Democratic Forum of the Romanians of Moldova, Literatura şi Arta newspaper editor, writer Nicolae Dabija as a candidate for the Romanian Parliament at the November 30 elections.

The oppositional Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova regards the Memorandum, adopted last Tuesday night by the Chisinau Municipal Council [city legislature] to de-block the heating crisis in the capital city, “a short-living decision camouflaging thievish schemes of plundering the public property”.

Chisinau. Sergiu Mocanu, the leader of the Popular Action Movement and former Adviser-at-Large to President Vladimir Voronin, has announced he is not going to run for parliament in 2009, but will join the forthcoming parliamentary campaign and will take an active part in it.

Chisinau. The Ravnopraviye (Equal Rights) Socio-Political Movement is the official name of the organization, after its re-registration with the Ministry of Justice, which claims to be a defender of Russian-speaker minorities in the Republic of Moldova.

Chisinau. The oppositional Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova leadership has stated they will challenge in court the law enforcement’s actions against protesters in some parts of the country. Last weekend, the party organized meetings of protest against the Communist authorities’ strangling the freedom of expression and press freedom.

Chisinau. The Agro-Lukka Transnistrian company from Rybnitsa offers highest-quality agricultural machinery, produced in the USA, Germany, Italy and Russia, to Moldovan farmers.

The United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Population Fund, the International Organization for Migration and the OSCE Mission to Moldova launched the project “Protection and Empowerment of Victims of Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence in Moldova” to work in 2008-2009. The US$3.45 million project is funded by the Government of Japan.

Chisinau. The Social Democratic Party of Moldova proposes to set up an Agency for Consumer Protection. For this purpose the SDP Parliamentarians sent a legislative initiative to the Parliament.

Chisinau. The Integro Ensemble, which is issuing its first disk, will give a charity concert on November 9. The financial resources, which will be collected, will be transferred to the “Îngeraşu” (Little Angel) Fund of Mothers of Children with Disabilities.

Chisinau. The National Association of European Trainers of Moldova (ANTEM) calls upon ethnic minorities residing in Moldova to intensively study the country’s state language. For this, the Association is offering a package of study aids for those who wish to deepen their linguistic background and communication habits.

Chisinau. The Our Home is Moldova party, established recently on the basis of the namesake association, will partake in the 2009 parliamentary elections on the list of the Centrist Union of Moldova (CUM) led by former Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev.

Chisinau. The Moldova Unita party is standing resolutely against the 6% electoral barrier, and regards the current electoral legislation as anti-democratic and totalitarian one.
