Chisinau. Retired general Anton Gamurari, #12 on the list of candidates for Parliament of the “Moldova Unită” Party of Spiritual Development, has called upon all veterans of the 1992 armed conflict in Transnistria to support this party at the April 5 elections.

Chisinau. Following the Monday night’s live debate on the TV7 channel, the “Alianţa Verde” [Green Alliance] Ecological Party organized a news conference in Infotag on Tuesday to provide more details about its decision to quit the election campaign in favor of the Liberal Democratic Party.

The independent candidate Sergiu Banari has invited the President of Moldova, Chairman of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin to take part in a live debate on the Moldova-1 public television channel on April 3, notwithstanding the fact that the Communists have just stated they are ceasing participating in such “useless verbal clashes”.

The Christian Democratic mayors of various-level localities of Moldova presume that the successes in the towns and villages they head have been achieved lately thank to an efficient cooperation between the [extreme-Right, pro-Romania] Christian Democratic Popular Party and the [extreme-Left and largely pro-Russia] ruling Communist Party.

Journalists from the Jurnal de Chişinău and Timpul [Time] newspapers of Chisinau and from the Vocea Basarabiei radio station are jointly calling on the Liberal Democratic Party, the Liberal Party and the Moldova Noastra Alliance to promise their electorates that after April 5 they will form a democratic coalition.

Chisinau. The oppositional Social Democratic Party of Moldova believes parties criticizing the SDPM initiative concerning Transnistrian conflict settlement are playing into the hands of the ruling Communist Party.

Chisinau. The Central Election Commission should demand from some television channels, including TV7 and EuTV, to change their current methodology of holding pre-election live TV debates, maintains independent candidate Stefan Uritu.

Situation in the Transnistrian conflict settlement field has only worsened after the March 18 Moscow meeting of Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin and Transnistrian leader Igor Smirnov, held in the presence of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, presumes the Pro Europa Association of Transnistria.
