PRESIDENT SANDU HOLDS VIDEOCONFERENCE WITH AMBASSADORS OF EU COUNTRIES

On Thursday, Moldovan President Maia Sandu held an online conversation with the Ambassadors of 27 European Union Member Countries accredited in Moldova, and discussed with them the questions of snap election organization and of post-pandemic economy recovery. Ambassador Peter Michalko, Head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, acted as moderator of the talk.

Maia Sandu wrote in social networks afterwards that the interlocutors exchanged opinions about the European Commission-announced Economic Recovery Plan for the Republic of Moldova [which will mobilize up to €600 million in macro-financial assistance, grants and investments, supported by blending and financial guarantees].

"This is an important assistance that should promote the stabilization of our economy. We shall do everything to receive an access to it and to use it. For this to achieve, we must achieve progress in the judiciary reform and in struggle against corruption. To this end, I conversed with the Ambassadors of the European Union countries about the concept of the Independent Consultative Anti-Corruption Committee", wrote the President.

Maia Sandu pointed out that the Ambassadors showed interest also to the ongoing parliamentary campaign in Moldova.

"I have received assurances from many of the Ambassadors that they will help organize voting for Moldova citizens staying in their countries. European observers will be monitoring the electoral process here so that our people could freely vote here and so that the election be free and fair", wrote President Sandu.
